Georgetown Lake Ski Cabin
Location: Georgetown Lake, Montana
Type: New Construction
Progress: Design In Progress
Perched above the shoreline of Georgetown Lake in the heart of Montana’s Pintler Mountains, this ski cabin is designed as the ultimate dual-purpose sanctuary: a rugged basecamp for winter adventure near the hidden powder stashes of Discovery Ski Area, and an idyllic lakeside haven for summer recreation. The architectural intent was to balance intimacy with capacity; the home is scaled to feel small and cozy when occupied solely by the owners, yet possesses the flexible spatial logic to effortlessly expand when hosting generations of family and friends.
While the exterior pays homage to traditional Montana homesteads with a palette of heavy weathered woods, timber framing, and local stone, the interior breaks from the expected dark cabin aesthetic. Inside, the rustic "bones", vaulted ceilings, and a monumental stone fireplace serve as a backdrop for modern creativity and vibrant color. Through the use of eclectic furnishings, contemporary art, and expansive glazing that captures the lake views, the home preserves the soul of a Montana cabin while injecting a spirited, modern energy into the mountain landscape.
